I'm assuming that the majority of us here, being internet folks, have met someone from the internets.
In meeting someone from the internet, do you follow any safety rules? You know, meet in public places, stay in a hotel and not their home, etc. Do the rules change for you if it's an online SO? Does it matter if you're a guy or a girl?

There are occasionally mornings where I'll wake up pre-dawn because of some intense dreams and then not be able to fall back to sleep. Today is one of those mornings. Fortunately, the universe seems to conspire to give me something in exchange for those couple hours of peace and rest. I usually get up, put on a sweatshirt and read in the living room until the sun squeezes through the blinds. Then it's time for breakfast.

It's my mom's friend's son.
I'm in charge of getting the gift because my Mom is undergoing chemotheraphy and can't leave the house for the next few days. (and I need the gift by Friday)
His mom barely talks about him, so we don't know what he does/likes/etc. (ok. lemme rephrase: His mom cares too much abt herself and too little abt him, so he's almost never mentioned in conversations)
The budget is about $80. Money's not allowed as a gift. And his dad won't let him have stuff like ipods, psps (you get the idea...)
I think this kid is really sad, and I do feel sorry his parents are such assholes (i do have my reasons for calling them that).
I would like to get him something nice. But am really at a loss here... =(
ETA: Outings with his friends are a no-no as his Dad is most prob not going to let him go. And his mom has no idea what he likes.
WTF.

I live about 20 minutes from Detroit, Michigan (Westland, for anyone who that information could be useful to). I've been here for a few months, and I'm going home (Memphis, TN) Thanksgiving weekend to visit my family.
I want to have some awesome pictures to take home to show them, and I'm thinking specifically about nature sights. Fall up here looks so different from what I'm used to at home -- just seeing the colors on some of the trees as the leaves turn on my way home from work everyday, I'm floored.
So my question for anyone who lives around here or knows the area: What do I absolutely HAVE to check out before Thanksgiving weekend, and before autumn is over more generally? I'm not averse to up to a 2-3 hour drive if it's worth it. |

Взяли мелких. Сучата паршивые, сожрали за три дня половину фруктов, что пайком на месяц дали. Женя поначалу ходил, рычал, но потом притих, как я напомнил ему, сколько он в свое время жрал.
Коля признался, что, бывает, психует.
Я тоже признался, что, бывает, психую.
Оба мелких, выяснились, катались в ОПБ. В петлю лезли.
У Жени нашелся брат. Приехал с тещей, дай говорит, на выходные Женю. Быстрые все, простые, я хуею. Типа, он брат, он должен решать вопросы по Жене. Я сказал, не вопрос – берите с концами, решайте. Но если он вас заебет, или наиграетесь, мы обратно не возьмем.
Моя сестра, которая летом сказала мне, что хочет нормально жить и боится докатиться, как я, устроилась работать в детский дом. В Москве. В службе сопровождения. Карма – злая сука.
Хорошая девочка. Писала диплом по нашим ребятам, получила красный. Еще работала на телефоне доверия, писала обоснование к нашему проекту в Федково и ездила в Европу на концерт Radiohead.
В гуманитарке нашел себе майку Джек Дениалс.
